The management team
There's a guy called Ricardo Semlo, who wrote a book called Maverick, which has nothing to do with Top Gun. Anyway, in the book he writes about Semco - the company he headed up, which amongst a number of quite revolutionary ways of doing business they implemented, one was ‘co-operative management'. Streetwires is using this philosophy here at Streetwires with our dynamic management team, which in essence, is now in charge of guiding us forward.

| Patrick is a multitalented individual with a business brain and an African Soul. Recipient of the Cape Times Business Personality of the Year Award - Editors Choice and Top Billing 'Entrepreneur of the Year (2007) primarily for his work at Streetwires, he formed the team that built Streetwires and has been instrumental in it's continued success. A strong believer in Social Entrepreneurship he has worked hard to ensure that Streetwires is a true ‘hybrid' - equal parts a social and business enterprise. |
Riaan has worked building Streetwires since 2002 and is now a shareholder of the organisation. He works in all areas of operations at Streetwires. While overseeing the studio he is also actively involved in the development of Streetwires as a creative enterprise. Working with selected artists Riaan looks for the potential of individuals, stretching the abilities of each to realise their dreams. Cathy heads up the flag waving, the trumpeting, the shouting to the world about what we create, how we do it, who we are and where we're going. We'd put our necks out to say that in this single head there's probably more images of wire & bead craft stores than any other in the world. (Bring on the Guinness!) While her specific portfolio is export and local retail, she also manages & motivates our whole team.Riaan Hanekom, Streetwires Operations Manager

Sustainability is all about sales. We'll trumpet our social mission from the roof-tops, but the nuts and bolts are held together by the orders we raise for the artists. Asanda (above) & Thobela (right, with Victoria) All the essential ‘nuts-and-bolts' functions would not be possible without these powerhouses. All former artists who showed great potential, ambition and initiative and have received several promotions to get where they are today - responsible for vital administrative duties at Streetwires.
